Sharp Viking Swords measure 37 3/8th inches in all. These functional medieval swords have a 30 7/8th inch, sharpened blade. The blades are forged from 5160 spring steel and marquenched to HRC 50-52. The 6 ½ inch handle is crafted of leather covered wood. The cord wrapped grips are tapered for comfort. Michael Tinker Pearce designed these swords with the re-enactor in mind while incorporating details from authentic examples of early 9th Century Viking swords found in Norway. During this time period, a similar rounded-dimpled hilt decoration was popular. The scabbards have suspension points and a period chape creating an eye-catching look when the Viking sword is sheathed. These swords are tang-riveted, or peened, at the pommel in order to comply with Viking re-enactment requirements. These medieval swords include a leather scabbard and weigh approximately 2 lbs, 12 ounces. The point of balance is 4 ¾ inches and the point of harmonics is 20 ¼ inches. The width at the guard is 2 3/16 inches. The width at the tip is 1 ½ inches. The thickness at the guard is .200 inches. The thickness at the tip is .085 inches.

The Tinker Series Norman swords have an overall length of 36 1/2", a blade length of 30 3/4" and a handle length of 5". Sword weighs in at about 2lb 5oz. Norman Swords, with their distinctive cruciform guards and brazil-nut pommels, are similar in weight and static balance and offer virtually identical handling characteristics. Both are harmonically balanced to optimize cutting ability in the case of the sharp version and to provide authentic handling characteristics for the re-enactor. The blades are forged in 5160 high carbon steel and marquenched to HRC50-52, allowing superior edge retention on the sharp and anti-burr safety on the blunt. Grips are wood-cored and leather-covered over a cord wrap.
